February Meeting Recap

Report from Outreach Committee (Denise Ohlman)

H*art Gallery: First gathering is on March 12, 1-3 PM

  • 5 people will be going; names were drawn at our February meeting
  • First project is learning to sew hexies
  • ChattMQG volunteers will later provide machine sewing as needed

If you want to donate 2-1/2” squares, punched cardstock papers, or boxy toiletry bags, you need to get them to Denise or the H*art Gallery before March 12. Artists at the H*art Gallery receive 60% of the profit when their work is sold.

National Quilt Day: Stitch In The Mall (Sandi Suggs)

Saturday, March 21, 1-4 p.m.

Volunteers to work at the ChattMQG table are needed to:

  • Sew a project to demonstrate piecing and quilting
  • Meet and greet visitors
  • Talk about the ChattMQG

You may bring to this event a 36” x 36” modern quilt. Two quilts will be hanging and the rest will be displayed on the table. An Opportunity Quilt will be auctioned; you can get a ticket for a $5 donation. If you plan to show a quilt at this event, please bring it to our March 14 guild meeting. More details are in our January 27 blog post.

ChattMQG Photo Directory In Progress (Ashley Brown)

Our guild photographer Ashley is making a PDF directory that includes photos, names and contact info of all our members. Once it’s complete, we will send it to members. If you have not yet been photographed you may send a phone photo to Ashley. Include your name, address, phone and email. Email Ashley!

The Modern Quilt Guild Website

Our ChattMQG is a chapter of this national organization. MQG members get full access to website content which includes information, webinars, and an inspirational gallery. If you receive their newsletter you should be able to access member-only content using the email address you’ve shared with the ChattMQG. If you have a problem, please see our guild President Janet Suber. Lots of photos of the quilts that were displayed at QuiltCon 2015 are now in their blog gallery.

The Modern Aesthetic—Putting It Into Practice

This month we are designing quilts with the “L” block. You can find out all about that and print a copy of the handout in our last blog post.
