Back in February, ChattMQG board member Kelly Spell did an interview with Quilt Alliance (QA) about our modern basket quilt while it was hanging at QuiltCon in Nashville. QA recently shared the video on their website and YouTube channel, check it out!
The mission of QA is to “document, preserve, and share our American quilt heritage by collecting the rich stories that historic and contemporary quilts, and their makers, tell about our nation’s diverse peoples and their communities.”
One way QA does that is through a program called “Go Tell it at the Quilt Show!” One person stands in front of one quilt for up to three minutes and shares the quilt’s story. While Kelly was filmed by a QA employee at QuiltCon, you can shoot your own video at home and QA will upload it to their website and share it. To learn more, visit their website.
Our basket quilt is currently at the Tennessee State Museum in Nashville, hanging in the Between the Layers exhibition which runs through July 7. After that, the quilt will stay at the museum as part of its permanent collection.
