Join us Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for a relaxing sew-in. There’s no formal program; instead, you’re encouraged to sew alongside one another and work on one of the following projects:
A visible mending challenge piece
Free-motion quilting (FMQ) on your sewing machine
A quilt-as-you-go project of your choice
If you need a refresher, the visible mending challenge is to apply any of the techniques we learned at our July meeting to a worn out shirt, pants, quilt, etc. You can share your progress online using the hashtag #chattmqgmending, and we’ll unveil the finished mends at our December meeting.
And if you missed last month’s workshop with Elaine Wick Poplin, or if you want more time to hone your skills, the sew-in is the perfect place to practice free-motion quilting.
Finally, our QuiltCon Charity Quilt Challenge committee is ready to unveil their design for this year’s quilt. Check it out!
Candice Murray came up with the design, which fits the MQG’s theme and palette. Guild members are invited to embellish the letters with some handwork during our November guild meeting. Stay tuned!
Bring the supplies you need for the project you want to work on (including your sewing machine and an extension cord if you plan to practice FMQ or QAYG), as well as show-and-tell items, and any lunch or snack items you desire. See you soon!
